Com os apoios à produção do ICA – Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual, SPA – Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores e a participação da RTP | Feature documentary. Featuring Maria Filomena Mónica, Sofia Pinto Coelho, and Rita Pinto Coelho. My Momma Never Taught Me How to Cook is a feature documentary built around the ongoing dialogue between three women from the same family: a renowned sociologist in her 80s, her daughter — an investigative journalist at a turning point in her life — and a millennial granddaughter living abroad. Born under different political and social regimes — dictatorship, revolution and democracy — they reflect on ambition, intimacy, sexuality, professional success and the possibility (or refusal) of motherhood. As the grandmother faces memory loss and the fragility of aging, their conversations gain emotional urgency and unexpected tenderness. Through direct conversations, personal archives and everyday moments, the film becomes both a family portrait and a broader reflection on how women have led profound social change — quietly reshaping private life across generations. Produced with the support of ICA – Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual, SPA – Portuguese Society of Authors, and with the participation of RTP.
